RAPP (Reading And Parents Program)

Each RAPP pack contains a quality children’s book, a craft, reading and language hints, poetry, and paper and pencil activity sheets. They are tailor made for each family according to the age of the children. A baby book or young reader may be included when necessary. In addition, extra crafts and activity sheets supplement the pack if more than one child is at the correct stage.

Music Circle for Infants

The Music Circle is based on the Mother Goose program which states that everything is sung or said. It is a PACT (Parents And Children Together) program. Parents bring their infants under one year old for one and a half hours, for ten weeks.

Parents sing nursery rhymes, learn new songs and finger plays and are taught the value of having a wide selection of songs to use to distract their children when they become fractious, as well as simply singing with or to them for pleasure.

This program is offered through a Purchase of Service agreement with the Ontario Early Years Centre.

Bookmaking workshops

The two-hour bookmaking workshops are for parents alone while their children enjoy a quality childcare program. Over a ten-week period, parents make five or six books and games to take home and use with their children.

Participants are introduced to a variety of appropriate book titles based on the theme of the week. Reading topics covered include the importance of prediction, rhyme, repetition, number concepts and interaction in good books.

The books they make reflect these topics and include two very popular books, “My Touch and Feel Book" and “All About Me”.
